Range Details
Open All Year-Round, except on work party weekends and the evening of the AGM, range details can be found below.
The club has a number of ranges for all the members to use:
- Main range.
- 25 yards bench rest range and 10 yards standing range (part of the main range also known as the tunnel). Although part of the main range you can use these independently, for practice of 10 yard standing and the 25 competition.
- HFT and Prone Hut range (part of the main range).
- Pistol and Vintage Rifle range.
- Sponsors range.
- Side woodlands range.
- Open woodlands range (6 acres).
- The main range may be closed when the grass needs cutting and occasionally if an event is being held. Notice of any range closures will be published in advance for members to see.
Each of which can be used by all members for general fun, practice, competitions and setup.
Main Range Details
The main range is open at the club between the hours of 6:00am to 11:00pm any day of the week. During the evening floodlights are available for low light conditions if required. Permanent targets are setup on the main range, the Pistol and Vintage rifle range and Sponsors range.
Other targets and racks are available for use in the clubhouse. The main range has floodlighting and is covered. It has many movable shooting benches and clear firing points. There is a storage worktop along the whole facilities for members to store their shooting “gear” whilst they shoot. Extra seating, cushions or rifle stands are available for use in the clubhouse. Please return anything borrowed from the clubhouse when you have finished if they are left outside, they have a tendency to “disappear” and then the club has to pay for new ones.
Shooting can be done in all season’s weather and light conditions (dark nights).
25 Yards Bench Rest Range and 10 Yards Standing Range; If you want to focus or be out of the way for 25 yards bench rest or 10 yards standing practice the club has a separate section available next to the main range.
HFT and Prone Hut Range Details; For those who want to focus or be out of the way for HFT prone practice the club has a separate hut available next to the main range.
Plinking Fun
Plinking is a great way of meeting up with other members, having a shoot and a chat, and practicing your shooting techniques. The only thing to be careful of is that, in our experience, you can only “plink” for so long after that members find themselves drifting away from the club or getting bored.
So, if you’re getting bored don’t be frightened to try something else. Is there a competition you fancy, just ask someone if you’re not sure.
Pistol and Vintage Rifle Range
Like the main range, our pistol and vintage rifle range has covered firing points. This range it is open between the hours of 6:00am to 11:00pm any day of the week. The pistol and vintage rifle range also has a dedicated section for paper target shooting, practice and competition. When shooting in this range safety glasses must be worn.
The club has regular meets for all disciplines.
Sponsors Range Details
The club also has sponsors range available for use by all members. This range is open between Dawn and Dusk every day. Permanent targets are setup on the main range, the Pistol and Vintage rifle range and Sponsors range. Other targets and racks are available for use in the clubhouse.
Sponsors range has a dedicated 55 Yards fenced lane for Setup and Practice. Often used by HFT and FT shooters to calculate drop at various distances will little or no wind effect.
Next to the main range is an open area that can be used by all members. Sometimes used by HFT and FT shooters to practice on un-even ground in normal conditions.
As with the main range this can be used between the hours of 6:00am to 11:00pm any day of the week.
Permanent targets are setup on the main range, the Pistol and Vintage rifle range and Sponsors range.
Other targets and racks are available for use in the clubhouse.
The club has the use of a large area of woodlands that can be used for events and competitions (Pistol/CO2, HFT and FT).
Regards BFTO.
